Police are still investigating whether any laws were broken during a golf outing near that featured scantily clad dancers from a local strip club.
"We're on a fact-finding mission to see if any crime was committed," said a police lieutenant.
The dancers were from a strip club that was holding the fundraiser to benefit Disabled American Veterans.
"I don't believe we broke any laws," said the club owner. "No one intended to do anything bad."
The club owner said the fundraiser brought in about $1,000 for the charity. He said he has held at least eight similar events like the one at the golf course and has never had any trouble in the past.
He said evening police have not yet contacted him about the incident.
The police lieutenant said he assigned two detectives to investigate the open lewdness complaint but says he will not authorize any overtime for the investigation.
"Nobody is in danger, nobody is a threat," he said.
The complaint was phoned in about 3:50 p.m. by neighbors who live near the golf course, he said.
A 19-year-old shares the street with the golf course and shot a video of dancers giving lap dances and performing sex acts on each other. He said that he was standing on a public road when he shot the video.
The policeman said that his department had not yet received the video and that it is a key piece of evidence.
He said the 19-year-old is cooperating with police but would only give a copy of the tape to detectives investigating the case.
"The guy is forthcoming," the policeman said.
Open lewdness is a misdemeanor crime and can be punished by a maximum of two years in prison and a $5,000 fine. |
