Police: 14-year-old boy tried to rape woman

A 14-year-old boy was arrested after attempting to rape a 22-year-old woman, according to a news release from the police.
The boy rode his motorcycle past the woman, who was jogging. After passing her several times, he stopped, got off the motorcycle, forced the woman to the ground and attempted to rape her, according to police.
The woman screamed, freed herself, ran to a nearby house and called emergency services.
Police officers met with the victim and spoke with several witnesses, who helped identify a suspect, police said.
Police found the boy at his home and took him into custody after the victim identified him, police said.
The teen was taken to the county juvenile detention center.
Police said the charges against him will include criminal attempt to commit rape, criminal attempt to commit involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, criminal attempt to indecent assault, criminal attempt to aggravated assault, indecent assault, simple assault, false imprisonment and unlawful restraint.
He will also be charged with institutional vandalism for kicking out a police vehicle window after he was restrained, police said. |
