- What’s your opinion about this case?
- Police have always used informants in cases. This is no different
than infiltrating the inner circles of the mafia or drug lords.
It’s a necessary evil.: (15%)
- Disgusting! The fact that they paid this guy to have illegal
sex four times is ridiculous. How nice to see $160 of our tax
dollars going toward this guy’s sexual gratification.:
(15%)
- The state troopers who laughed while this was going on are
a couple of “bad apples.” Hopefully, their supervisor
will deal with them accordingly.: (15%)
- It’s a sad commentary on our justice system to see that
the only person charged in this whole ordeal was a woman.: (54%)
9/20/07
- What do you think about this case?
- The story seems to emphasize that the man was an Olympic swimming
coach. Makes one wonder how much his celebrity status contributed
to the “not guilty” verdict!: (8%)
- It’s a shame that, because this coach went the extra
mile and tried to help a student in need, he is then accused
of abuse.: (25%)
- The victim-blaming in this article is outrageous. Describing
the victim as “by all accounts a troubled man” is
hardly objective.: (50%)
- This man simply developed a friendship with a student. Not
all teaching takes place within the structure of a class during
designated hours.: (17%)

What’s your take on the “Ike Turner Day”
idea?
- Are you kidding me?! The idea that anyone would even suggest
the possibility of an “Ike Turner Day” is absolutely
absurd!: (32%)
- This guy has paid for his mistakes over the past 40 years.
Don’t honor him but don’t vilify him either.: (16%)
- Bravo to Mayor Francis Slay for putting the kibosh on celebrating
an abuser.: (53%)
- If it hadn’t been for Ike, Tina Turner would still be
Anna Mae Bullock from Nutbush, Tennessee. Despite his faults,
he made her a star.: (0%)

What do you think
about this settlement?
- This is nothing more than a $660 million Band-Aid. No amount
of money will repair the survivors’ lives.: (40%)
- Wow! The Roman Catholic Archdiocese’s pockets run very
deep. Sounds like this settlement will do little to hurt them
financially.: (0%)
- It’s about time! What a wonderful precedent for victims
everywhere!: (0%)
- Wonder if the lawyers who were so “emotional”
about the case will feel the need to donate any of their $264
million in fees to victims’ rights organizations.: (60%)
7/17/07
- What’s your opinion about this case?
- How many more women does this man have to drug and rape before
a jury will convict him? The jury completely dropped the ball
here.: (11)
- At least he was charged with assault. Hopefully, he’ll
face some jail time.: (1)
- It’s only a matter of time before he rapes again. How
can any woman be safe will him roaming the streets?.: (1)
- Pretending to be a doctor or an astronaut wasn’t enough
to get women to sleep with him. He needed drugs, too. Wow, he
must be a real winner of a guy.: (4)

What's your opinion about Miss America's role in catching
Internet predators?
- It's great to see that Miss America is using her celebrity
status to highlight such an important topic.: (12)
- This was nothing more than a publicity stunt to boost the
ratings for "America's Most Wanted.": (2)
- Great job! During the pageant, Lauren Nelson stated that Internet
safety would be her platform. Her appearance on "America's
Most Wanted" will spread her message to so many millions.:
(7)
- Trolling for online predators is unbecoming for any Miss America.
These beauties need to stick with less controversial topics.:
(2)
5/1/07
- What’s your opinion about this lawsuit?
- This is classic bullying. An older student is preying upon
a younger one. The sixth-grader’s parents are justified
in suing the school district.: (2)
- Would the parents be so quick to sue if this were a boy-girl
situation instead of a girl-girl situation? This is a case of
homophobia.: (1)
- Even eighth-graders need to be punished for sexually inappropriate
behavior. By that age, you know what’s right and what’s
wrong.: (3)
- Where was the school guidance counselor through all of this?
The school missed a prime opportunity to help both of these
students.: (5)
4/10/07 -
The newspaper describes the 15 year old girl as the
22 year old man's "girlfriend." What's your opinion
of the wording in this news article?
- 1. If Obama is going to be a public figure, he has to learn
to put up with attacks like this. He’ll encounter much
worse on the campaign trail over the next several months.: (4)
- Obama is a dad first and a presidential candidate second.
He needs to take every measure to protect the well-being of
his daughters..: (10)
- Like the article said, even pedophiles have the right to free
speech.: (3)
- Even though the pedophile was standing behind his right to
free speech, Obama won. He got the pedophile to take down the
photos.: (0)
3/22/07
- The newspaper describes the 15 year old girl as the
22 year old man's "girlfriend." What's your opinion
of the wording in this news article?
- The sex was consensual, and she's old enough to know what
she's doing. she probably considered herself to be the man's
girlfriend, so the article should refer to her that way.:
(3)
- Disgusting! This is rage. A 15 year old girl should never
be considered the "girlfriend" of a man 7 years her
senior.: (7)
- There isn’t that big of an age difference. At 15, she’s
probably just as mature as a 22-year-old male. If they were
boyfriend and girlfriend, that’s their business.: (3)
- The newspaper is completely at fault here. Their headline
uses the phrase “having sex” instead of “raping.”
The writer also uses the words “girlfriend” and
“relationship” so refer to what is clearly sexual
abuse. Ridiculous! : (9)
3/07/07
- What do you think is the real story here?
- She’s a substitute teacher who showed up that day to
do her job. Give her a break. Where was the regular teacher
during all of this?: (3)
- Even if she was “under strict orders” to keep
the computer on, she could have simply turned off the monitor.
Problem solved.: (7)
- Everyone’s familiar with pop-ups. This is not a big
deal. The children have seen at least that much on their home
computers.: (2)
- The principal’s at fault here. He knew the computer
didn’t have a firewall. How can you take a risk like that
with a classroom full of seventh-graders? : (10)
2/15/07 -
What do you think about the child rape scene in the
movie?
- Dakota Fanning was playing a role - nothing more. The scene
was shot in segments with a whole crew of onlookers. She was
not in a rape situation.: (6)
- I'm going to reserve any kind of opinion until after I see
the film.: (8)
- This is child abuse. Dakota Fanning's parents should be cited
for neglect.: (5)
- "Hounddog" will be an asset to the anti-sexual assualt
movement. More actors and actesses need to choose roles that
expose the ugliness of rape. : (8)
1/1/07
- The defense attorney provided a woman - whose son
was accused of gang rape - with a copy of the victim's taped
statement. The woman took the DVD home and tried to make copies
of it. What do you think of that?
- The attorney knows better. He should face charges for allowing
evidence to leave the courtroom.: (13)
- Since the evidence is safely back in the courtroom, the judge
needs to concentrate on what's important: the trial for a young
girl who was gang-raped.: (1)
- The case is tainted now and should be thrown out of court.:
(0)
- The mother has every right to familiarize herself with the
evidence against her son. She's not at fault. : (2)
12/19/06
- Who's the victim in this case?
- It's definitely a rape. The teacher completely abused her
power and took advantage of this student.: (2)
- The teacher was raped. A 16-year-old boy is strong enough
and powerful enough to rape any woman.: (2)
- The teacher was worried about being caught having an affair
with a student, so she made up the rape story.: (2)
- Aren't we supposed to believe the victim? If she says she
was raped, she was. : (3)
12/12/06
- Does sexy music trigger teen sex?
- The "experts have been blaming music as the cause of
teenage delinquency since before the days of Elvis Presley.
The real responsibility lies with the parents - not the record
companies.: (5)
- Teens listen to music non-stop. If they're constantly hearing
about explicit sex, they will naturally become curious about
having sex themselves.: (17)
- Songs with degrading sexual messages make teens desensitized
to sex in their own lives. Having sex is not a big deal when
you've already learned all about it through radio and CDs.:
(19)
- Music isn't nearly as strong of an influence as good parenting
and a loving home environment. : (10)
6/15/06 -
What do you think of this story?
- Did anyone bother to check the height of the children he assualted?
It's a safe bet this "little guy" was a lot bigger
than his victims.: (10)
- The judge has a responsibility to protect the accused. That's
a basic right as an American citizen.: (2)
- This guy is going to reoffend in no time. I hope his neighbors
know there's a child molester on probation next door.: (7)
- Way to go, judge. You've just set a precedent that helps every
"vertically-challenged" sex offender in the country.
: (10)
5/25/06
- What's your take on the Duke lacrosse rape story?
- Sounds like rape to me. The woman left that house in a panic
and her medical exam showed she'd been sexually traumatized!:
(23)
- It's too soon to tell. The team is innocent until proven guilty:
(9)
- This is a race issue. If a group of black men were accused
of raping a white Duke female, an arrest would've been made
by now.: (7)
- I think something terrible happened to this woman,
but I'm not sure it it was rape. : (3)
4/16/06 - How
do you feel about the "rapex" invention?
- Finally! Women have needed this for centuries!: (14)
- Hooks adn barbs? Has the human race regressed to medieval times?!:
(8)
- It's a good idea, but .... A woman would have to wear this 24
hours a day for it truly to be effective.: (33)
- You go, girl! I'd love to be in the operating room watching
while doctors perform the barb-removal surgery. : (15)
3/20/06
- How do you feel about the judge’s decision against
sentencing a confessed statutory rapist to jail?
- I agree with the judge. What’s six weeks in the grand
scheme of things?: (2)
- Six weeks…you can’t drink in a bar six weeks short
of your 21st birthday!: (10)
- An overburdened parole and probation system will not adequately
manage the terms of the ex-teacher’s sentence.: (7)
- It’s an outrage! Statutory rape is a crime that deserves
due punishment. : (46)
2/10/06 - How
do you feel about the judge's reasoning in handing out a 60-day
jail sentence to a confessed child rapist?
- Finally, a judge who has the taxpayers' interests in mind!:
(2)
- I agree with the judge. We should stop and think about how angry
a long prison sentence will make this child rapist. Who knows
what he would
do after he gets out?!: (0)
- Being labeled a sex offender and having to undergo treatment
is
punishment enough.: (3)
- I'm outraged! A horrible crime has been committed. Society,
the victim, and the victim's family deserve and should demand
a more appropriate sentence.: (37)
1/17/06
- Which of the following scenarios represents the most
neglectful behavior on behalf of those charged with the care of
others?
- A daycare facility does not adequately screen employees and
hires a convicted child sex offender.: (21)
- A parent lets his/her 11-year old son go on a weekend campout
with "Uncle Brain" even though he has been sexually
inappropriate with children in the past.: (20)
- Prison officials do not intervene when an inmate rapes and sexually
abuses a fellow inmate. After all, inmates are adults and should
be able to look
out after themselves.: (16)
- No one deserves to be sexually violated. As a civil society,
it is our responsibility to do whatever we can to help protect
those who are not able to protect themselves - especially when
we are responsible for thier care and safety.: (52)
10/30/05
- Wilkes-Barre Police Chief:
All Victims Not Equal
Which of the following scenarios represent a “true victim”
of a crime?
- A crack addict is gang raped while trying to make a purchase
in a crime-ridden
part of town. - 25
- A 15-year-old high school girl willingly agrees to go drinking
with older senior boys and discovers someone had sex with her
when she was
passed out. - 26
- A student walking back to her dorm after a night class is abducted
by a stranger at knife-point, taken to a remote location, and
repeatedly raped. - 39
- All of the above. Rape and sexual assault are crimes no matter
what the circumstances. To say or think otherwise is outrageous!
